एकल तपस्या

*एकाकिनो  तपो  द्वाभ्यां  पठनं  गायनं  त्रिभिः।*

तपस्या अकेले ही की जाती है, विद्याध्ययन के लिए दो व्यक्ति (गुरु और शिष्य) आवश्यक होते हैं। गायन के लिए तीन व्यक्तियों (गायक, संगति करने वाला और श्रोता) अवश्य होने चाहिए। 

Asceticism is to be practiced alone by a person, and for studying at least two persons (teacher and the student) are essential. For singing at least three persons (the singer, the accompanist and the listener) are required.
